The nominees for Australian television’s greatest gong have been revealed. See who’s in the running for the 2024 Gold Logie – and all the biggest awards.
Scoring her third nomination in a row, comedian Julia Morris said she takes nothing for granted in the competitive world of show business.
“Here’s the thing, that nomination … means everyone is working for at least another 12 months,” Morris told The Daily Telegraph.
“At 56, let me tell you, that is good news. I always worry about work, always.”
Morris is one of seven nominees announced in the coveted category ahead of the August 18 ceremony at The Star Sydney.
She’s up against fellow I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! host Robert Irwin, TV host Larry Emdur, actor Asher Keddie, ABC host Tony Armstrong and comedian Andy Lee.
The nominations for the 64th annual awards were announced at a private mansion in Elizabeth Bay on Sunday.
Last year’s Gold Logie winner Sonia Kruger recently spoke of undertaking therapy after her 2023 win.
“I feel less pressure (this year),” Kruger said. “I feel I can go and have a great night. Julia makes a really good point, I am loving seeing these barriers being broken down, age barriers, in the media for women who have been there for a long time. Now we are seeing that people are having really long careers and that is a reflection of our audiences, they want to be represented on screen.”
Emdur, who turns 60 in December, joked he would be embarking on a campaign to win the Gold with the hashtag #beforeidie.
“It is not what I do, I don’t feel comfortable with that and that will probably put me at a massive disadvantage,” Emdur said. “I’ve seen how people campaign for these things and I don’t know if I can do that.”
He continued: “I’ve done everything in TV. Genuinely, this is daunting. I feel very nervous about this and nothing in TV makes me feel this way but I am happy for that. I am proud to be part of it. I love TV and it is all I’ve ever done so hopefully this is a nod to that.”
Several of the Gold nominees are also up for the Bert Newton Award for Most Popular Presenter, including Morris, Emdur, Kruger, Armstrong and Irwin. The only addition on that list is Hamish Blake.
This year, the Logies have removed popular and outstanding categories to instead streamline to ‘best awards’, being a combination of industry judging votes and the general public.
Most popular new talent nominees are Alyla Brown, Ava Caryfyllis, Felix Cameron, Tristan Gorey, Imi Mbedla and Lee Tiger Halley.
Hugo Weaving, from BINGE drama Love Me, leads the Silver Logie Best Actor in a Drama category with the likes of Rob Collins and Simon Baker also in that category while Anna Torv, Deborah Mailman and Rachel Griffiths are among the Silver Logie Best Lead Actress in a Drama nominees.
Silver Logie Best Supporting Actor nominees include Guy Pearce, Travis Fimmel and Bryan Brown while Silver Logie Best Supporting Actress nominees include Mabel Li, Leah Purcell and Michelle Lim Davidson.
Best News Or Public Affairs Presenter nominees are Liz Hayes, David Speers, Michael Usher, Peter Overton, Ally Langdon and Sarah Ferguson.
BINGE’s Love Me is up for Best Drama Program, competing against NCIS: Sydney, RFDS, The Newsreader, The Tourist and Total Control while Best Miniseries or Telemovie nominees are Boy Swallows Universe The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, The Claremont Murders, The Clearing, Erotic Stories and Safe Home.
