Gold Prices Today: Gold prices ticked up on Tuesday from a three-week low, helped by a softer dollar after an official U.S. report showing that consumers expected lower inflation boosted hopes for interest rate cuts from the Federal Reserve.
Spot gold was up 0.2 per cent at $2,032.73 per ounce, as of 0458 GMT, after hitting its lowest level since Dec. 18 on Monday. U.S. gold futures rose 0.3 per cent to $2,038.90 per ounce.
Gold prices in India remained strong and saw a slight increase on Tuesday, January 09. On the multi-commodity exchange (MCX), gold futures maturing on February 05, 2024, traded at Rs 62,250 up by 0.25 per cent as of 12:25 pm.
While the value of silver futures maturing on February 05, 2024, too, was in the red by 0.27 per cent. They traded at Rs 72,409 per kg.
The price of the yellow metal fell in the retail market. The cost of 10 grams of 22-carat gold as noted a Rs 100 drop to Rs 57,700 on Tuesday from Rs 57,800 in the last trading session. The 24-carat gold price tumbled by Rs 100 per 10 grams, retailing at Rs 62,950 for that quantity. While the 18-carat gold stands at Rs 47,210 per 10 grams which is lowered by Rs 80.
