Hong Kong badminton duo Tse and Tang win silver in Japan Open

Hong Kong’s badminton duo Tse Ying-suet and Jordan Tang Chun-man won silver in the Japan Open on Sunday, losing to the Chinese team in the mixed doubles event.

After taking a less than three weeks break after the Olympics, Tse and Tang teamed up again to participate in the Super 750 Japan Open held in Yokohama today.

The duo met with the world ranking number four. China’s Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin in the finals.

The Hong Kong representatives were restricted by the speed and power of the Chinese duo and did not have much chance to showcase their skills, losing the first set 12-21.

In the second set, the Tse and Tang adjusted their mentality, along with cheers in Cantonese wishing them good luck, and led the set 11-9 before the break.

Unfortunately, Jiang and Wei sped up the pace in the second half and came back, with the Hong Kong duo losing the set 12-21.

The Hong Kong team fell to the young Chinese duo in straight sets, losing 12-21 in both sets.

The duo won their second silver medal in a Super 750 event after the French Open ten months ago.

Tse and Tang both thanked their fans for their support on Instagram.
