How To Get More Silver (& What It’s For)

With the release of a new Hades game, Hades 2 is introducing players to new mechanics, interactions, and resources, including one such resource, Silver. This new resource means that players will need to keep a keen eye out on their runs and make sure to collect as much as they can. Silver is difficult, but not impossible, to find, so making the most of each run by grabbing what you can will save you a lot of time when you find yourself in need.

Hades 2 is a direct sequel to the original game, following Hades’ second child, Melinoë, as she descends into the Underworld to save her family from the evil Titan of Time, Chronos. On her journey, she is aided and taught by Hecate as well as a whole cast of characters. Some of these characters return to the franchise from the first game, while others are all new. Like in the original, Hades 2 sees Melinoë equipped with many new and interesting weapons that she can use in her fight against Time.

How to Use Silver in Hades 2

Melinoe completing a concoction in the Crossroads in Hades 2

Silver is a relatively rare resource that is used in a few ways in Hades 2. This resource can be used at the concoction pot in the Crossroads to complete some of the spells available. Each spell requires different combinations of resources, so you won’t know what the spell needs until you check it out. Oftentimes, the spells that do require silver will only ask for a few, two or three, so don’t worry that you’ll have to spend your whole game collecting.

The other place you can spend your silver is at the Nocturnal Arms station in the armory. Here, you’ll be able to purchase and upgrade new weapons for Melinoë to use against the denizens of the Underworld, even in her fight against her Headmistress, Hecate. Here are all the weapons you can unlock so far:

Description

Witch’s Staff

A staff that sends out mid-range attacks, has a long-range special, and can be empowered with magick to deal damage in a straight line across the battlefield.

Sister Blades

Twin blades with fast attacks, a special that shoots multiple projectiles, and can be empowered with magick to teleport behind enemies for a backstab.

Umbral Flames

Two torches with seeking projectile attacks, a special that causes projectiles to orbit around you, and can be empowered with magick to send one large projectile out.

Moonstone Axe

A massive axe with slow, sweeping attacks, a special that blocks attacks and retaliates, and can be empowered by magick to repeatedly spin it around you.

Argent Skull

(After unlocking the second region)

A skull with explosive attacks as ammunition, a special that causes you to dash forward, and can be empowered by magick to dashes and sends out AoE attacks.

Not all of these weapons require silver to unlock; however, many of them do, so it’s worthwhile to pick up any that you find, particularly as you run through Erebus.

Each run of Hades 2 ends differently depending on how far the player has progressed through the story. Here’s where the story concludes for now.

Where to Find Silver in Hades 2

In order to be able to mine silver in the deposits scattered around Erebus, you’ll first need to unlock the Crescent Pick. Thankfully, this is pretty simple, as this tool costs only one Ash, so make sure to pick it up quickly. As you run through Erebus, keep an eye out for silver deposits in each Encounter.

These look like medium-sized rocks capped with silver, and grant three silver each. This is not the only resource you can collect in the Underworld; keep an eye out for fishing spots to test your angling skills against hellish fish!

Once you’ve gotten used to finding Silver, you’re well on your way to unlocking all the weapons in Hades 2! In a similar fashion, there are other mine-able resources in the other levels of the Underworld, so keep looking as you descend deeper for more precious crafting material that will help you become stronger. Keep up the good fight, and avenge Melinoë’s family to save Olympus.
