Iltani hails ‘major silver-indium discovery’

Iltani Resources has made what it believes to be a “major silver-indium discovery” at its Orient project in North Queensland.

All eight reverse circulation (RC) drill holes completed at Orient in December 2023 intersected extensive silver-lead-zinc-indium vein mineralisation, highlighting the project’s potential to host a world-class silver-lead-zinc-indium resource.

Drill hole ORR021 delivered the most significant findings, with two intersections returning assays of 500 grams per tonne (g/t) indium.

Drill results include:

  • 5m at 43g/t silver, 0.7 per cent lead, 5 per cent zinc and 149g/t indium (314g/t silver equivalent) from 117m, including 1m at 141g/t silver, 1.7 per cent lead, 18.8 per cent zinc and 500g/t indium (1102g/t silver equivalent)
  • 4m at 48g/t silver, 1 per cent lead, 4.8 per cent zinc and 175g/t indium (335g/t silver equivalent) from 186m, including 1m at 83g/t silver, 1.1 per cent lead, 13 per cent zinc and 500g/t indium (819g/t silver equivalent)

“Iltani’s drilling at Orient continues to deliver outstanding intersections of silver-lead-zinc-indium mineralisation returning both high-grade intersections and broad intersections of medium-grade mineralisation from multiple vein systems,” Iltani managing director Donald Garner said.

“We continue to build on results from the Stage 1 RC drilling program. Of note are the high-grade indium assays from the intersections in ORR021 – Iltani believes these are the highest-grade indium drill intersections publicly reported on the ASX to date.

“Indium is classed as a strategic and critical mineral, based on its uses in multiple high-tech devices such as touchscreens, flat screen displays, solar panels and microchips plus its aerospace and defence applications.”

Iltani has engaged Mining One to complete a model of the Orient system, bringing together historical and recent drilling as well as reprocessed geophysical data and mapping.

“We will use this model to optimise the remaining drillholes planned in the Stage 2 drilling program and to better inform us of the potential of Orient to host a world-class silver-lead-zinc-indium resource,” Garner said.
