GOLDEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man was injured when his vehicle rolled over on the Silver Lake Sand Dunes Saturday evening.
It happened around 6:20 p.m. at the dunes west of Mears. The Oceana County Sheriff’s Office said the 40-year-old man was pinned in when his vehicle rolled.
Crews were able to free him. Deputies did not immediately have information about the severity of his injuries.
Deputies said there had been multiple crashes Saturday at the dunes, which host drag racing and are largely unregulated. It was not immediately clear whether anyone else had been hurt, but deputies said no one was killed.
In May, 33-year-old Kadie Price was killed when a Jeep racing on the dunes veered toward spectators. The death was the first of its kind on the dunes, authorities said. The Oceana County prosecutor ultimately decided the crash was an accident and that there was no basis for any criminal charges.
