A Silver Surfer and Ghost Rider Mashup Is A Stroke of Genius
Ghost Rider and Silver Surfer Share a Lot of Similarities
Ghost Rider and Silver Surfer are two of Marvel’s most compelling characters. Silver Surfer and Ghost Rider each speak to a different era of comics. Rooted in science fiction, the Silver Surfer was perhaps the best embodiment of the spirit of the Silver Age. Ghost Rider, created just a few years later, was the emblem of a darker period. Supernatural and magic-themed characters such as Dracula, Werewolf by Night and the Son of Satan became just as popular as the Silver Age icons that put Marvel on the map.
Yet at the same time, Ghost Rider and the Silver Surfer share a great deal in common, beyond using super-charged vehicles to get around. Both Johnny Blaze and Norrin Radd made great sacrifices for their power, sacrifices that involved both losing their humanity and forsaking the ones they love. Transformed into beings of great power, Ghost Rider and Silver Surfer waged solitary battles across the Marvel Universe. Although both have worked with other heroes and even belonged to superhero teams, Ghost Rider and the Silver Surfer work best alone.

Silver Surfer’s Ultimate Form Finally Made Him More Powerful Than Galactus
When Silver Surfer finally found a way to kill Galactus, he had to become something even worse to keep the universe from collapsing.
This Genius Mashup Demonstrates How Ghost Rider and Silver Surfer Are Connected
Will the New Silver Surfer Find Redemption?
The new Silver Surfer/Ghost Rider mashup combines the best of both worlds. Jonah Marlo sells his soul to a demon, just as Johnny Blaze did. Mephisto then uses his new Silver Surfer much in the same way Galactus used his: sending him out to collect that which sustains his master. And just like Norrin Radd and Johnny Blaze, Jonah Marlo rebels against his overlord. Mephisto will not take a rebellion well, which puts the new Ghost Rider/Silver Surfer mashup in the demon’s sights, leading to an epic cosmic battle.
