Henderson’s response to narrowly claiming silver
Anna Henderson was less than a second clear of Chloe Dygert in the women’s cycling time trial, and the closeness wasn’t lost on her.
“I missed the worlds’ podium last year by two seconds and I was thinking to myself, ‘This is not going to happen again.'” the silver medalist told the BBC.
“So I kept pushing all the way to the line, really horrible conditions out there today so I was really thankful that I could just stay upright on my bike as well.
“I was a bit of a grandma on the corners but that paid off and I used my power on the straights, and here I am.”

Irish swimmer Davison blown away after “crazy” debut
Young swimmer Grace Davison has made her Olympic debut aged just 16, competing in the women’s 4×100 freestyle relay.
“It is quite overwhelming the whole experience, but I’ve enjoyed every single minute of it,” she told BBC Sport NI.
“This is crazy. It reminds me of going to a huge concert. I was at Taylor Swift a few weeks ago and it was pretty big.”

France denied their first gold
Luka Mkheidze lost in the judo gold medal match as he attempted to win hosts France their first Olympic gold.
Yeldos Smetov of Kazakhstan claimed glory in the under-60kg event.
France have another shot at gold this evening when they take on Fiji in the rugby sevens.
