Amy Greene won silver at the Irish Universities Cross Country on Saturday in Cork.
The Finn Valley AC athlete, a student at DCU, came home in second behind the victor, Fiona Everard.
University of Galway student Everard had around 16 seconds to spare with Greene just edging Hannah Gilliland (Queens) and Celine Gavin (Trinity) for the silver.
Greene’s performance saw DCU win the team gold.
The west Donegal woman was joined by Avril Millerick (7), Meabh Eakin (16) and Eleanor Foot (18) as DCU edged UCC by just two points.
Greene was recently crowned the Donegal Senior Cross Country champion and has her eyes on returning to the European stage in December.

In the men’s event, which was also held at The Farm Ballinaspig More, Finn Valley AC’s Sean McGinley – also running for DCU – was seventh in a race won by Trinity’s Pierre Murchan.
Letterkenny AC man Donal Farren, representing University of Galway, was 13th, while ATU’s Oisin Toye, also out of Finn Valley AC, was 45th and his club mate Ryan Quinn, a student at Maynooth University, was 53rd.
Meanwhile, in the United States, Finn Valley AC athlete Eimear McCarroll had an excellent outing at the Bradley Pink Classic. In the race, held at the Newman Golf Course, McCarroll was the second Bradley University scorer, crossing the line in 24th, with her team finishing third.
