BEAVER, Utah — Two wildfires are currently spreading in different parts of Utah. Utah Fire Info says one, the Silver King Fire, is exhibiting extreme fire behavior. The other, the Little Twist Fire, is currently at 40% containment.
Silver King Fire
On Saturday, the Silver King Fire was around 686 acres, according to the UFI Facebook page. By Sunday morning, the fire doubled in size to 2,830 acres. Around 8:30 a.m. on the same day, the fire had doubled in size once again to 5,400 acres.
UFI said firefighters and aircrafts are both working to get ahead of the fire. Firefighters are using air tankers, helicopters, and ground resources to keep the public safe.
The fire is reported to be eight miles West of Marysvale and is suspected of being started due to a lightning strike. UFI has stated that there is a red flag warning in effect until 9 p.m. on Sunday.
“Today crews protected the Historic Silver King Mine and worked to catch spot fires in an attempt to prevent fire spread to the north,” UFI said. “Please avoid the areas of the Beaver Creek drainage and Bullion drainage to provide for the safety of firefighters and the public.”

People in bullion canyon are being asked by fire officials to gather their things in case of an evacuation taking place. People who may need help evacuating can call 435-896-6471 for EMS and SAR assistance.
Little Twist Fire
The Little Twist Fire, however, appears to be kept in check as of Saturday morning.
“Firefighters are working to improve existing firelines and keep things in check while interior pockets continue to burn within the perimeter,” UFI said in a Facebook post.
“Smoke will be visible in the South Creek area from both Beaver and Piute Counties.”
