MARYSVALE, Utah (KUTV) — The Silver King Fire has reached an estimated 2,830 acres — quadrupling in size in just a few hours.
Utah Fire authorities initially reported on the Silver King Fire just after 4 p.m. on July 5, estimating it to be between 30 and 50 acres.
Shortly before 10 a.m. on July 6, authorities provided an update on the blaze where they said it had grown to more than 686 acres.

Saturday evening, fire authorities said the fire, burning eight miles west of Marysvale, was exhibiting “extreme fire behavior,” pushing to the south through the Beaver Creek drainage and burning in heavy dead and downed timber stands.
Crews were able to protect the Historic Silver King Mine and worked to catch spot fires in an attempt to prevent fire spread to the north.
The cause of the fire was determined to be lightning.
“Please avoid the areas of the Beaver Creek drainage and Bullion drainage to provide for the safety of firefighters and the public,” fire authorities said.
