The Daily Dish in Silver Spring will offer Anti-Valentine’s Day menu

Single and feeling cynical about Valentine’s Day? The Daily Dish in Silver Spring has some drink and food specials that may be perfect for you.

The Daily Dish, a neighborhood bistro at 8301 Grubb Road, is offering Anti-Valentine’s Day specials, including cleverly named food and drinks, which will be available from 3 to 9 p.m. only at the bar on Feb. 13 and 14.

The creative cocktails are: Wasn’t Mint to be, Sex on the Beach…for one, Crying
Cupid Cosmo and Your Relationship on the Rocks. Drinks range from $12 to $14.

Snacks — dubbed “love bites” — include $8 garlic knots called Untie the Knot, Bean…Bean…the Magical Fruit (9-bean chili for $9) and $12 bacon-wrapped scallop named Block the ex.

Entrees options feature Boycotting Today – just for the Halibut (pistachio-crusted halibut for $32), Not-Your-Fairytale Pumpkin (local beet and fairytale pumpkin crostata for $22) and Lamb o-so-solo buco (lamb osso buco for $38).

“Join us and dive into an anti-Valentine’s Day rebellion with these bites and cocktails that defiantly untangle the conventional love narratives,” the restaurant said on its website.

The eatery has had Anti-Valentine’s Day specials in previous years as well.

Executive Chef and owner Jerry Hollinger opened the restaurant in 2009 because he “enjoys making wholesome food that is reminiscent of family dinners surrounded by his parents and six brothers and sisters,” and “his shepherd’s pie and stews have become favorite specials at The Daily Dish,” according to the restaurant’s website.

Hollinger also owns The Dish and Dram in Kensington and J. Hollinger’s in Silver Spring.

The restaurant won a RAMMY award in 2018, which is sponsored by the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington, and honors exceptional eateries in the area.
