The Indian team faced a tough challenge in the first T20I against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club on July 6, 2024.
The Indian batters struggled to gain momentum and lost wickets at regular intervals and things worsened as Rinku Singh was dismissed for a duck.
Tendai Chatara’s impressive over saw him taking two wickets, with Rinku Singh being caught by Bennet at short fine leg after a top edge off a pull shot. This placed India in a precarious position as Zimbabwe continued to dominate the match.

In the 5th over, Rinku Singh departed for a Silver duck, Tendai Chatara banged it on the pitch, and Rinku Singh sat back and attempted a pull short but could not complete the shot and it straight went into the hands of Brian Bennet.
Earlier in the match, Shubman Gill won the toss and invited Zimbabwe to bat first. Chasing a decent target of 116 set by Zimbabwe, Team India found themselves in trouble early on as wickets kept on falling, with destructive batter Abhishek Sharma dismissed for a duck from then on no player was able to gain momentum and wickets fell like a pack of cards.
At the time of writing, India are struggling at the 61/7 in 13 overs.
