Suspect in violent Tulsa mall robbery of elderly woman captured by Dallas police

A suspect who violently robbed an elderly woman in a Tulsa mall was arrested.

The 90-year-old woman was depositing a large amount of cash into a Bitcoin machine at Woodland Hills Mall on Nov. 22.

According to the Tulsa Police Department (TPD), one suspect approached the woman, grabbed her arm, slammed her to the ground, and took all of her cash.

A juvenile suspect was arrested outside the mall, but 20-year-old Karmelo Shannon got away.

Last night, Jan. 16, Shannon was arrested by the Dallas Police Department Gang Unit.

Dallas PD had been coordinating with the Oklahoma City Police Department since the warrants were issued.

Shannon is facing charges of Felony Robbery and First Degree Burglary.

His girlfriend, Markena Davis, was arrested by the Mingo Valley Street Crimes Unit for harboring.

TPD shared gratitude for the community’s support in the investigation in a Facebook post.

Big shout out to the citizens who helped at the scene and those providing information about the suspect’s whereabouts, and a shout out for the collaboration between the different police departments.
