Introducing the Finance for Nature Professional Certificate by the IUCN Academy!
In a world where biodiversity is threatened like never before, urgent action is needed to redirect economic and financial systems towards a nature-positive future. Did you know that biodiversity loss has reached a critical point, with one million species facing extinction? Efforts to address this crisis include translating the importance of biodiversity and nature conservation into financial terms. Shockingly, an estimated USD 44 trillion of economic activity annually is highly or moderately dependent on nature, accounting for over 50% of global GDP (WEF, Nature Risk Rising, 2020).
Our course delves into these pressing issues, analysing the intricate link between nature and finance. Participants explore governance frameworks, overcome data challenges, and evaluate instruments of change. Upon completion, participants will navigate financial information effectively, connect scientific knowledge to financial markets, identify emerging financial instruments, understand legal and regulatory frameworks, and develop informed financial strategies for their organisations.
