A Memorandum of Understanding between the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia and the British University of Portsmouth was signed on Friday by Vakhtang Paresishvili, the Deputy Head of Investigation Service and Sarah Duckering, the Director of Research and Innovation Services of the University.
As part of the signing ceremony, the parties discussed the importance of sharing experiences on methodology and practice in exploring future research projects in the area of economic and other relevant crimes, including their functioning, prevention, investigation and detention, the Service said.
Organising distance and on-campus learning courses for Investigation Service staff was also reviewed by Paresishvili and Duckering, with the officials also discussing the establishment and development of joint specialised research and education centres.
The state body noted that it would have close cooperation with the Centre for Cybercrime and Economic Crime at the University of Portsmouth to “advance qualification” of its investigators and relevant staff with “valuable expertise and extensive knowledge” through specific training courses, as well as enhance research, teaching and innovation skills in these fields.
