APEO Renamed to Patria Private Equity Trust

abrdn Private Equity Opportunities Trust plc (APEO), the FTSE 250 listed private equity investor, is changing its name to Patria Private Equity Trust plc (PPET). The name change follows the completion of the sale of abrdn’s european private equity business to Patria Investments Ltd, a global alternative asset manager. The sale was initially announced in October 2023, with the APEO Board consenting to the transaction in early 2024.

The existing investment team led by Alan Gauld, who has been lead manager of the Trust since 2019, will remain in place to manage the £1.2bn portfolio.

This is an exciting new chapter for the Trust, with Patria’s ambitious involvement and dedicated PE resource allowing us to build on our successes and NAV growth since launch in 2001. Whilst our name, ticker and website have changed, the attractive opportunity within private equity markets remains as strong as ever. We are particularly delighted to continue working with the same investment team and wider administrative personnel who have provided shareholders with such careful and responsible stewardship over many years. Our extensive due diligence into Patria and their commitment to the interests of our shareholders has assured us that the newly-titled Patria Private Equity Trust is well positioned to capitalise on the broader potential of private equity markets for the long term,” said Alan Devine, Chair of the Board.
