JunHe has recruited private equity lawyer Zhao Rongjing as a partner, based at the firm’s Shanghai and Hong Kong offices, and formalities relating to her partnership are currently being processed.
Prior to joining JunHe, Zhao had been a partner at Morrison Foerster since 2023, practising private equity and M&A from the firm’s Beijing and Shanghai offices. Before that, she practised at Kirkland & Ellis’ Shanghai office from 2014 and was promoted to partner in 2018. Earlier in her career, she worked at O’Melveny at both its Los Angeles branch and Shanghai representative office.
Zhao brings more than 15 years of experience advising on cross-border transactions. Her practice focuses on public company M&A, private equity investments, leveraged buyouts, mezzanine financing and distressed asset acquisitions, with strength in the technology and life sciences sectors.
Her clients include listed companies, private equity funds, institutional investors and multinational corporations. Representative transactions include Asia Innovations Group’s USD2.5 billion merger, Carlyle’s acquisition of packaging supplier HCP Group from Baring Private Equity Asia, and Ascendent’s USD1.66 billion privatisation of HollySy. These transactions were recognised as among China Business Law Journal’s Deals of the Year Award.
In a press release, JunHe said Zhao’s arrival “will further strengthen the firm’s capabilities in global capital markets and complex cross-border transactions and inject fresh momentum into JunHe’s core practices, including international M&A, cross-border private equity investment and financing, and public company acquisitions”.
