Global Alternative Funds picks up private credit firm MD

There’s a new face at Global Alternative Funds’ Sydney offices. Street Talk understands the private equity fundraising shop has added Oak Hill Advisors managing director Signe Brandt to its operation.

Signe Brandt had been with Oak Hill Advisors for almost 14 years

Brandt had been with the $63 billion global credit-focused alternative asset manager and T Rowe Price subsidiary for almost 14 years, helping to set up and build its Australian footprint. She’s also had stints at Everest Financial Group and Ashok Jacob’s Ellerston Capital.

GAF’s remit is to find what it believes are the best offshore investment funds, secure access, set up an investment vehicle and co-invest alongside its wealthy clients. Brandt will be tasked with sourcing and analysing private investment opportunities as well as covering the firm’s client base.

Ex-Carlyle bigwig Natasha Nankivell started GAF in mid-2019 with about $12.5 million from 38 investors. It’s grown to $1.2 billion from more than 350 investors, riding the wave of demand for alternative assets and private equity.

On the way, it’s contributed money into funds from Canadian private equity firm Whitehorse Liquidity Partners to HPS Investment Partners, H.I.G. Capital, Hg Capital and most recently, Arctos’ Sports Partners Fund II.
