Goldman Sachs Alternatives has launched a private equity offering, the G-PE fund, broadening its suite of open-ended private market solutions under the firm’s G-Series platform.
The G-PE fund is structured as an evergreen strategy, providing qualified investors with ongoing access to a broad spectrum of private equity opportunities. These include flagship Goldman Sachs strategies across buyout, growth equity, secondaries and co-investments.
The G-Series platform already includes funds across infrastructure, real estate credit, and private credit—asset classes that have grown in appeal as investors look to hedge inflation and generate alternative income sources. G-PE strengthens this offering, anchoring the private equity sleeve of the G-Series toolkit.
As part of the G-Series suite, G-PE aims to deliver long-term private equity exposure with greater accessibility and flexibility, particularly for professional investors seeking diversification from traditional public markets. The fund structure is designed to address the demand for private equity in a format that enables more frequent entry points and liquidity options than conventional closed-end funds.
Infrastructure leads alternatives as private equity lags
The launch highlights Goldman Sachs’s push to open up its $500 billion alternatives platform to a wider investor base. According to the provider, historically dominated by institutional capital, private markets are drawing interest from high-net-worth individuals and advisors looking to access strategies that offer both performance potential and low correlation with listed equities and bonds.
G-PE is available to clients through Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management and via select third-party distribution channels in multiple markets. The move aligns with a broader trend among large asset managers to democratise access to traditionally institutional strategies.
Kristin Olson, global head of alternatives for wealth at Goldman Sachs, said: “As more companies opt to stay private for longer and a greater share of economic growth occurs in private markets, investors will need to look beyond the public markets. We believe private market investments can help our clients with the appropriate risk profile build a more diversified portfolio and are pleased to take advantage of product innovations to expand access and opportunities for them.”
