Amundi’s acquisition of Alpha Associates is one of several high-profile private markets deals since the start of the year.
Traditional asset managers are gradually increasing their exposure to unlisted assets, with BlackRock buying GIP to boost its infrastructure investments this January.
This is also not the first time Amundi has made a strategic investment into a growing private markets area. At the end of last year, the firm took a stake in digital platform AirFund, which helps the asset manager with labour-intensive subscriptions, reporting and distribution of private markets strategies.
