As domestic and international private equity funds stalk the pub trade looking for well-priced purchases, I’m told that there might be a deal in the offing for one of the most colourful joints in town.
The rainbow-coloured Pantibar on Capel Street, Dublin, is owned by Rory O’Neill, better known as the supremely magnificent performer and drag queen Panti.
Jay Bourke had previously been a shareholder but O’Neill has owned all the shares since 2021, according to company filings. I believe that a new minority shareholder may be looking to come in.
The UK-based fund Attestor Capital spent about €34 million last year to buy the TP Smith portfolio made up of the Auld Dubliner, the Norseman, TP Smiths, Laguna and the 44.
