SA Rugby’s preferred bidder for a private equity stake in its main commercial assets is an American shelf company that was only launched in December.

Ackerley Sports Group (ASG), an expansion of a family-owned investment firm named Ackerley Partners based in Seattle, confirmed this week that it had entered into negotiations with the local governing body to acquire a stake in a new company – colloquially termed a commercial rights corporation – that will grow its revenue base.
