Scottish IT company acquired by English consolidator

Nottingham-based Air IT has announced the acquisition of Edinburgh’s SoConnect.

This latest move establishes a regional hub for Air IT in Scotland and further increases its share of the UK SME market.

Supported by private equity firm August Equity, Air IT has acquired 13 businesses to date, with SoConnect being its first in Scotland.

Founded by Campbell Fraser in 2011, SoConnect has delivered year-on-year growth and built a client base of 500 companies. The managed service provider has a team of 38 employees based in Edinburgh and the Borders.

SoConnect chief executive Gordon Sayers said: “We are thrilled to embark on this new chapter as part of Air IT, a move that marks a significant milestone in our journey.

“This acquisition expands our horizons and enriches our capabilities, opening up exciting opportunities for growth and innovation. We look forward to working with our new colleagues and continuing to deliver unrivalled managed services to our valued clients.”

Air IT chief executive James Steventon said: “SoConnect is a great cultural fit with an accomplished team that shares our values and commitment to delivering an exceptional client experience.

“With a complementary skillset and extensive experience of Microsoft cloud and communication solutions, we look forward to working together and building a strong presence in Scotland.”
