This defensive private equity stock trades at a deep discount


• Net asset value (NAV) per share edges up to 695p

• 32 per cent discount to book value

• 4.5p a share annual dividend

Private equity investment company Oakley Capital Investments (OCI: 473p) would have delivered a NAV total return of 40p (6 per cent) last year excluding foreign exchange movements which wiped 25p a share off.

Oakley’s portfolio is focused on four core market segments – technology (25 per cent), education (17 per cent), digital consumer (34 per cent) and business services (24 per cent). The key valuation uplifts (around 7-8p a share for each holding) came from:
