Armed police descend on Scots street after reports of ‘weapon’ at property


Armed police descended on a street in Glasgow this evening following reports of a ‘weapon’ inside a property.

Officers were called to Kyleakin Road, near Darnley, where a man had fallen unwell after locals reported seeing police with firearms at the scene around 4pm, reports Glasgow Live.




Police say a BB gun was reovered from the scene and confirmed there were no injuries or threat to the wider public. A 31-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for a check-up.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 4pm on Tuesday, to a report of a possible weapon within a property on Kyleakin Road in Glasgow where a man had been taken ill.

“Officers attended and a BB gun was recovered. There was no threat to the wider public and no one was injured.

“A 31-year-old man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital to be checked over.”
