Couple among five booked for Rs 3.54-cr property fraud

The Police Division 5 registered a case against five persons, including a couple, on the charges of committing a property fraud worth Rs 3.54 crore.

The suspects were identified as Parveen Kumar Gupta, his wife Kusum Gupta, residents of South City, Preeti Gupta, a resident of Atam Nagar, Model Town, Sarwan Singh of NRI Colony, South City, and Parminder Singh of Malaud village.

The complainant, Vineet Baweja, of Gurdev Nagar said he had struck a deal with the suspects to buy a property at Issewal village. They had taken Rs 3.54 crore from him and promised that they would execute the property registration soon. However, despite taking money, the suspects did not execute the property registration deed. Whenever he asked them to return the money, they made hollow promises and failed to return the same. ASI Mohan Lal said after registering a case of fraud, further probe was initiated.
