The new team aims to support public private investment opportunities as they build on the company’s experience having previously bid and operated more than 20 public private partnerships (PPPs).
This follows a review of services by CEO Andy Milner who returned to the company in 2023, after Amey had divested much of its investment activity but retained many of the skills within the wider team.
Amey Ventures Investments continues to manage its ongoing PPP portfolio.
The move coincides with the official opening of Amey’s new consulting office and design hub in Belfast.
The investment division will be supported by Amey’s engineers, analysts and data scientists, to de-risk investments and help Governments to meet their sustainable infrastructure and Net Zero commitments.
Amey’s chief commercial officer, Kelvin Dryden, will lead the new team.
Dryden said: “By coordinating the availability of finance from the private sector with the needs of the public sector, Governments can take decisive and bold action which will help to kickstart economic growth and deliver the infrastructure the UK needs.
“Infrastructure is a key component of a growth economy, attracting investment and supporting all tiers of society.
“We believe that Net Zero can be achieved by unlocking the collaboration between the public sector’s needs and the private sector’s vision and finance, thereby facilitating project financing in a Net Zero economy.
“More immediately, Amey is well-positioned to support emerging opportunities within this landscape.
“By leveraging its extensive experience, strong partnerships, and innovative approach, Amey can continue to deliver exceptional value to its clients, advise on successful PPP approaches, work with investors and deliver future projects.”
