Big Infrastructure Boost For Sikkim! CM Prem Singh Tamang Confirms Rail Line To Be Completed By 2027


At the India Today Conclave 2025, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang shared exciting updates on the state’s infrastructure plans in a conversation with Rajdeep Sardesai, Consulting Editor, India Today TV Output. Addressing the long-standing travel concerns, CM Tamang confirmed that by the end of 2027, Sikkim will have direct rail connectivity via the Sukna-Sivok–Rangpo rail line. This major infrastructure push will make travel to Sikkim much more seamless, eliminating the current need to transit through Bagdogra. He also highlighted significant improvements in road connectivity, ensuring that travelers can reach Sikkim in just 1.5 hours through an upcoming alternative road route.
