Cassidy Announces $3.1 Million for Iberia Parish Infrastructure, Builds on Existing Infrastructure

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced that the Sewerage District No.1 of Iberia Parish will receive $3,100,000.00 from the U.S. Department of Commerce for wastewater infrastructure. This new infrastructure magnifies recent infrastructure investments in the parish including First Solar’s $1.1 billion American energy manufacturing plant, which was announced in August, creating 700 new jobs with an annual payroll of at least $40 million.

“We are building an economy for 2050 in Louisiana,” said Dr. Cassidy. “This investment in wastewater infrastructure in Iberia Parish will support more business and job opportunities and better the quality of life for families in our community.”

The funding will support the design and construction of a new sewer lift station and force main line to support growth at the Progress Point Industrial Park and UL Lafayette’s New Iberia Research Center. This EDA investment will be matched with $875,000 in local funds.
