Infrastructures seek more funding in next EU R&I programme

Facilities group stresses importance of infrastructures to European science, industry and society

A “substantial budget increase” should be devoted to research infrastructures in the EU’s next funding programme starting in 2028, according to an umbrella body for such facilities.

Eiroforum, made up of eight of Europe’s largest research infrastructure organisations, said in a position paper on the future programme, known as Framework Programme 10, that a reduction in funding for infrastructures in the current programme, Horizon Europe, had caused its members “concern”.
