Politicians approve £16.3m to key infrastructure projects

Three projects to benefit from investment

Tynwald has approved funding for three major projects totalling £16.3 million during its first sitting of 2025.

A £6 million investment will go towards replacing the ‘outdated’ respite facility at Radcliffe Villas with a modern, 12-bedroom building.

Each room will feature en-suites, ceiling track hoists, and fully equipped disabled bathrooms, with an office space for staff.

The Ballacubbon Housing Project will receive £5.3 million to construct 20 two-bedroom properties.

These include seven houses and four apartments for first-time buyers, alongside five social housing bungalows and four apartments.

Additionally, £5 million has been approved for the Airfield Drainage Improvement Scheme, aimed at enhancing the operational safety and resilience of the airfield at Ronaldsway.

Planned upgrades will improve drainage, reduce surface flooding, and modernise Runway End Safety Areas to reduce risks if aircraft leave paved surfaces.

The projects have been hailed as vital investments in improving infrastructure and supporting community needs.
