Man in 50s sustains ‘life-threatening injuries’ after house fire


A man has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a fire in Swindon.

Emergency services rushed to a property in Thornbridge Avenue on Saturday evening after receiving reports of a fire.

Police officers promptly cordoned off the surrounding area while firefighters dealt with the blaze.

A man in his 50s was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Fire detectives and forensic investigators were seen at the property on Sunday morning and their enquiries are ongoing.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “We attended reports of a fire in Thornbridge Avenue, Swindon, yesterday evening (26/10) to support our emergency services colleagues.

“A man in his 50s was taken to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.

“Officers put a cordon at the address while investigation work is carried out.”
