No plans to increase property tax, says Palike

Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) dismissed rumours of increasing the property tax by enforcing guidance value-based tax computation system in the second half of the financial year.

Requesting the general public not to pay heed to rumours, the civic body said it has not drafted any proposal on increasing the property tax. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, tweeted: “The media reports of an increase in property tax under BBMP are false. There has been no hike and we have no intention to increase the property tax in the near future. Please be assured that these are mere rumours and there is no truth to these claims.”
