The four allegedly accepted Rs 15 crore from Saidi and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), in which it was mentioned that against the funding, he would get 44 flats. However, the accused breached trust and handed over only 10 flats worth Rs 2.96 crore. They allegedly sold off the rest of 34 flats to other home buyers and caused him a loss of Rs 12.03 crore, stated the FIR.
Saidi then approached police. A case was registered under sections 420, 406 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code by Byculla police on Tuesday. Later, the EOW took over the investigation.
