When discussing successful celebrity love stories, one standout is the romance between actors Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, beloved for their on-screen chemistry in the hit series “That ’70s Show.” While the couple has faced its share of minor controversies in recent years (by Hollywood standards), they’ve also garnered positive headlines, especially regarding their real estate portfolio.
Their history with real estate is relatively straightforward; they’ve primarily purchased homes to live in instead of constantly flipping them (looking at you, Ellen and Portia!), with a few exceptions during Kutcher’s early career. However, don’t be fooled into thinking their properties aren’t enviable—because they certainly are. Read on to check out all the West Coast–based homes they’ve owned and continue to reside in today.
2001: Ashton Kutcher Buys Beverly Hills Home
According to the property sales records on Redfin, Kutcher bought a six-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bathroom house in Beverly Hills for just under $1.7 million. This is reportedly the home he was staying in before moving in with then-wife Demi Moore, and it features a tennis court, a two-story foyer, full bar and wine storage, and even a putting green. The primary suite with its vaulted ceiling could’ve been plucked from a boutique hotel with double limestone baths, double closets, and a warm fireplace. After renovating the home in 2008, Kutcher sold the property in 2009 for just under $3.7 million through real estate agent Bill Parks.
2004: Kutcher Purchases Sunset Strip Bachelor Pad
Kutcher reportedly describes this home as the “bachelor pad that never was,” as the actor married and moved in with actress Demi Moore the very next year. He bought this Craftsman-style home for $1 million and rebuilt it with his father, updating it with a home theater, a two-story wine tower, and an infinity pool. The 3,235-square-foot house had four bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms, and while he never moved into the home, he kept it for quite a while. In 2011, Kutcher put it up for sale for $2.6 million. He reportedly sold it later that year for $2.35 million.
2008: Kunis Buys a Hollywood Hills Home
Kunis purchased a Mediterranean-style compound for $2.885 million back in 2008. The home was built in 1958 and sat on one-third of an acre with mountain and city views—the best of both worlds. The interior of the home features an open floor plan with high ceilings, as well as a home theater, a breakfast bar, an office, and five bedrooms and bathrooms covering 4,900 square feet. The exterior of the home is just as luxurious with a cabana area next to the pool and spa, a deck, and an alfresco bar. Kunis listed the home in August 2014 during her engagement with Kutcher for $3.995 million, selling it in the same month for $3.825 million.
2009: Kutcher Goes In on L.A. Home With Then-Step Daughter Rumer Willis
For $971,500 back in 2009, Kutcher co-purchased a Hollywood Hills home with then-step daughter Rumer Willis. The home was around 1,800 square feet and had only two bedrooms with four bathrooms, and the actor owned 50 percent of the house while Willis owned the other half. Demi Moore—Willis’s mother—and Kutcher divorced in 2013, and five years later in 2018, after Kutcher had gotten married to Mila Kunis, he signed over his half to Willis. Though it is unclear whether Willis paid Kutcher and Kunis for their portion of the property, the records did show that the house “sold” for $572,500 in August 2018, which is when the documents were filed.
2012: Kutcher Purchases a House in the Hollywood Hills
Built in 2007, Kutcher bought a modern-style mansion in the Hollywood Hills for an undisclosed amount at the time, but it was later revealed that he spent $8.455 million on the property. This home is the epitome of an L.A. house with views of the Hollywood sign and reservoir. Sitting on more than half an acre, the property features a pool and spa, and the 9,400-square-foot interior houses five bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a home gym, a wine cellar, and a sauna. After listing the property for $12 million in May 2014 during his engagement with Kunis, Kutcher finally sold the mansion in August later that year for $10 million.
2014: Kutcher and Kunis Buy Their First Home Together in Beverly Hills
After both selling their individual properties, Kutcher and Kunis bought a Beverly Hills home while they were still engaged for about $10.25 million. This East Coast–inspired abode sits on half an acre of land and is in the Hidden Valley neighborhood of L.A. The three-story home has five bedrooms and five-and-a-half bathrooms with 7,351 square feet of total living space. The interior is beautiful but definitely not showy with oak floors, crown molding, a chef’s kitchen, and a breakfast nook with banquette seating and a traditional dining table. Of course, it wouldn’t be a celebrity home without also featuring a sauna, pool, home gym, and wine cellar.
The famous couple unsuccessfully listed the home in May 2020 for $13.995 million, then again in September 2021 for $12.25 million, before finally selling it in early 2022 for $10.35 million.
2015: Kutcher and Kunis Buy Their Iconic KuKu Farms Estate
Yes, this home is where that infamous apology video was filmed. Though it’s uncertain how much the That ’70’s Show co-stars purchased the property for in 2015, it’s clear through their Architectural Digest home tour that they’ve put a lot into the design. Located in Beverly Hills, this six-acre compound was their passion project during the pandemic and was designed to be sustainable, taking them five years in total to complete it with the help of architect Howard Backen and interior designer Vicky Charles. According to the article, the home is powered entirely by hidden photovoltaics and actually produces more energy than they need. The estate has both a cornfield and a barn on the site, and the main house is built in a modern farmhouse style.
2017: Kutcher and Kunis Purchase a Santa Barbara Beach House
As a not-so-little getaway from their Beverly Hills home, Kutcher and Kunis bought a $10 million beach house just outside Santa Barbara. There’s a guesthouse on the property, and the main house is decorated in a classic California coastal style with six bedrooms and six bathrooms. Combined with the guesthouse cottage, the entire property takes up about 3,100 square feet of living space and directly overlooks the beach, which the family can easily admire from the covered porch.
