A property dubbed the ‘INXS House’ has broken the house price record in a popular South Coast hamlet, but agents don’t expect it to last long.
INXS drummer Jon Farriss bought 21 Cyrus St, Hyams Beach for $1.78m from former Channel 7 exec Bruce McWilliam and sold it for $2.32m in 2016 to current vendor, Milena Franovic.
Having done a major reno, she listed it with a $9m guide in late 2021.
Nearly two-and-a-half years later, property records show the home has sold — for $5m, so $4m less than the original expectation.

The latest agent, Christina Pincevic of CMP Real Estate, had no comment when contacted though title records show it’s settled in the name of Siobhan Foley, understood to be a senior manager with Macquarie Group.
The $5m sale beats the previous $4.8m record, first set in 2018 and then again in 2020 for a different property.
But local expert Craig McIntosh of the Holidays Collection says: “Don’t expect the record to last long.”
He and Highland Property’s Bill Malouf have several parties interested in the beachfront home of rich yachtie and TCI Renewables chief Jim Cooney at 78 Cyrus St, which has a $7m guide.
The holiday home of Seven’s former Sunrise co-host Samantha Armytage at 29 Cyrus St is still available through McIntosh, with its $3.2m guide, and he also has a nicely renovated pad at 1 Tulip St, owned by stylist Yael Grinham, for sale at $2.85m.
