A restaurant in South Bengaluru has stirred conversation online with an unexpected rule for its diners. A sign displayed inside the eatery requests customers to avoid discussing real estate or politics while dining.
The message on the board reads: “This facility is only for dine-in purpose, not for real estate/political discussions. Please understand and cooperate.”

An X (formerly Twitter) user shared a photo of the sign with the caption, “Clear instructions alright,” which quickly went viral.
The post ignited a debate, with some users supporting the restaurant’s decision and others questioning it. Many pointed out that similar signs exist in other Bengaluru eateries, especially in places where customers tend to occupy tables for long periods while ordering minimally.
One user expressed frustration over loud discussions in cafés, writing, “Good, I want to punch them when I see them in CCD… 10 people enter, order 5 coffees, and bring the roof down.” Another user recalled a similar notice at an A2B restaurant in Yelahanka.
However, not everyone agreed with the restaurant’s policy. Some felt it was unnecessary to police customers’ conversations. A user questioned, “Weird, why does he have to police what people are talking about? They are paying for the food, no?”
