Paphos man arrested for real estate fraud


Police on Sunday arrested a 62-year-old man in Paphos for investigated cases of financial fraud involving real estate.

According to the police, the two cases of fraud were reported to the CID by two male complainants, aged 33 and 63, on July 18 and August 1, respectively.

The men complained that the 62-year-old suspect had convinced them to hand over sums of €3,000 and €1,500 with various false representations, during the purported purchase of a residence.

According to the 33-year-old, he gave the money to the suspect in November 2022, however, to date, the home purchase has not been secured, nor did the suspect return the money.

According to the 62-year-old, he gave the money to the suspect last June, however, in July, the suspect told him that the residence under agreement was not available for sale. To date, the suspect has allegedly not returned to the money the latter had given him for the transaction.

Police arrested the 62-year-old around 3.30pm on Sunday under court warrants and took him into custody.

Paphos CID are furthering the investigations.
