Real estate developer RajGreen booked for ‘cheating’ Surat residents who bought club membership | Ahmedabad News

Over a cheating complaint, Surat police issued notice to noted real estate developer RajGreen group of Surat to appear before the Althan police station on Monday, after they did not find the accused at their residence.

Tejas Agrawal, a resident of Surat and chartered accountant by profession, lodged a complaint with the Althan police station on Sunday against Sanjay Movaliya, his brothers Mitesh and Manoj, and business partner Alpesh Kotadiya. A case under IPC sections 420 (cheating) and 114 was registered against the four accused.

In his complaint, Agrawal alleged that in 2014, he had come across an advertisement in local newspapers about the La Casa Lucido family club, a project of RajGreen group, coming up at Vesu in Surat, and that Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan was the club’s brand ambassador.

Agrawal reportedly went to their office and allegedly deposited an amount of Rs. 3.87 lakh through deposits in intervals to purchase club membership for his son and daughter. The complaint states that his final payment was made on July 15, 2018.

“I have come to know that the (RajGreen) group had taken a loan from Bank of Baroda for the land at Vesu where the family club was coming up, but they could not pay the loan amount. Bank authorities had taken the land and sold it to another party,” Agrawal stated in his complaint.

Festive offer

He alleged that he made this discovery after failing to get satisfactory answers about the progress of the project from the firm office.

Agrawal had further searched for and identified 14 others who had invested money into the project before lodging his complaint.

Surat Assistant Commissioner of Police H Division Z R Desai said, “We have issued notice to Sanjay Movaliya and others accused in the case as they were not found at home when our teams visited. They have to present themselves within seven days at the police station. Once they give us details, then we can ascertain how many people have booked memberships. The complainant shared his details and 14 others — we suspect many more are there.”
