Fire crews from the South were called to an address in Port Erin last night.
The Fire and Rescue Service posted to Facebook to say Rushen Fire Station received a call to attend Ballafurt Road, where an alarm was sounding.
When crews arrived the occupants had evacuated and found the cause to be an item left on a cooking hob, filling the property with smoke.
A positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear the smoke – the Fire Service added this again highlights the importance of working smoke alarms.
