Son held for murder of RSS leader; police say property dispute motive | Lucknow News

Two days after an RSS leader and his 27-year-old adopted daughter were killed at their Amroha city residence, police have arrested the son of the 67-year-old man for the double murder. “Ishank Agarwal, the 42-year-old son of Yogesh Chand Agarwal, has confessed to killing his father and adopted sister Srishti. Yogesh told police that he committed the murders over property dispute as his father had registered half of his property in the name of Srishti,” Superintendent of Police (Amroha) Kunwar Anupam Singh said on Sunday.

Notably, Ishank had lodged a complaint with police about the double murder against unidentified assailants after the cremation. In his complaint, he told the police that he and his wife had dinner with his father and Srishti on Friday night and went to sleep in his room on the first floor while his father and sister lived on the ground floor.

“Earlier, he also told police that neither he nor his wife could hear any voice that night when the murders allegedly took place,” police said. However, police got suspicious of Ishank’s involvement after the probe team found evidence of attempts made to wipe out stains of blood from the room where the two were found killed.

“The throats of Yogesh Chand Agarwal and Srishti were slit with a sharp weapon. We found blood stains on the staircase leading to the first floor, where Ishank and his wife claimed they were sleeping at the time of the incident. There were 15 CCTV cameras installed in the house, but none were working. These all things made us suspicious that anyone close to the family could be the killer. We detained Ishank and on questioning, he confessed to killing his father and Srishti,” said the SP.

According to police, the probe found that Yogesh Chand and Srishti tried to save themselves from the assailants as blood was splattered in the room where their bodies were found.

Festive offer

The police also suspect that Ishank alone could not have killed both. “Our investigation is going on,” said the SP.

Ishank has a cardboard trading business and has been living with his wife in New Delhi for the past few years. He used to come to his parental home once or twice a week, and had reached Amroha on the morning of Friday, hours before the murders took place.
Yogesh Chand Agarwal, the district chief of the Amroha Vyapar Mandal and a patron of the Sewa Bharti, a wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, had adopted Srishti, the daughter of his brother-in-law three years ago.
