The homes you can get for £1400 a month in Cambridge and the surrounding villages


The rate at which rents are rising has slowed across the UK according to Zoopla, while Cambridge has seen a 0.3 percent fall in rent prices over the last three months. Cambridge joined a list of six UK areas where rents have dropped.

The other areas where rents have dropped over the last quarter are Nottingham, Brighton, York, Glasgow and London. Elsewhere, many regions have seen an increase: Gloucester, Sunderland and Northampton, for instance, have seen rises by up to three percent in the same period.




A two-bedroom property had an average rent of £1,460 in April 2024 while the average flat cost £1,316 a month, according to the Office for National Statistics. So, CambridgeshireLive decided to find out what we could rent with a limit of £1,400 in Cambridge and the surrounding villages.

Properties for rent in Cambridge, Milton, Waterbeach, Trumpington and Duxford

In central Cambridge, £1,400 a month seems most likely to stretch to a one-bed flat, although there are a few two-bed options available at this price. Currently on the market is this ground-floor one-bed flat in Victoria Road for £1,350 per month.

Its location is around 17 minutes from the centre of Cambridge by car and 27 minutes using public transport. The flat comes furnished and has a double bedroom, living room, fitted kitchen and bathroom with a shower.

It also has a private paved garden and bike storage. Its energy performance certificate (EPC) grade is C and its council tax band is B.
