Two charged over $60,000 Longford stolen property haul

Two people have been charged after police recovered close to $60,000 worth of stolen property during a planned search operation.

Items including tools, electrical equipment, jewellery and a significant quantity of copper wire were found at a home in Longford on Thursday.

Police believe the items were all stolen during a series of burglaries across the north since early March.

A 32-year-old Longford man has been charged with multiple offences including aggravated burglary, burglary, stealing and unlawful possession of property over the haul.

He was bailed to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court in May.

A 31-year-old Longford woman was also charged with multiple offences including receiving stolen property, being in possession of stolen property and aggravated burglary.

She was detained to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on Friday.

“Investigations into the burglaries are continuing and police urge anyone with information to contact 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000 or via crimestopperstas.com.au,” police said.
