Silver Knights Insights with Paden Morris | News, Sports, Jobs

This is the second posting of a new column contributed by Principal Paden Morris of Tyler Consolidated High School. Together we hope this ongoing series builds communication between the school and surrounding communities. It is Paden’s belief that good communication helps build a strong relationship, and we all are interested in what’s happening at TCHS. The goal of this column is to help keep you in the know! Principal Morris wants to continue to strengthen the connection and build new ones by not only showcasing what students have achieved at Tyler Consolidated, but also the possibilities of what they can achieve one day for the community.

Things are in full swing at Tyler Consolidated as the start of the school year has brought many activities and opportunities to their student body. This past week was Spirit Week for the Silver Knights as they prepared for their homecoming game and dance. Students in each class participated in many activities throughout the week highlighting school spirit and pride. Principal Morris explained, “One of our yearly traditions during Spirit Week is that each grade level creates a spirit banner that represents the theme of our homecoming dance, and our students do an excellent job showcasing school pride and their creativity.”

This year’s theme was “A Knight Under the Stars” with a classic Hollywood twist. The banners can be seen in the photos in this article. “It was a great week of festivities here at the school. Daily themes, powderpuff football, a Silver Knights homecoming victory, and a successful school dance. Our students really do a great job celebrating an exciting week,” assured Paden. Aside from homecoming activities, Tyler Consolidated is also taking care of business in the classroom as well. Principal Morris was very proud to share that Tyler Consolidated is one of thirty-eight high schools in West Virginia to be recognized as a 2022 Champion of College Access and Success. Tyler Consolidated completed three annual college-planning milestones to help students chart their pathway to education or training beyond high school. He added, “This award is a huge testament to our school guidance counselors, Mrs. Stollings and Mrs. McCoy, as well as senior history teacher Mr. Schupbach. These individuals and many others work extremely hard to ensure our students are set up for success upon high school graduation, regardless their pathway,” A team of school representatives will be heading to Charleston in October to receive this recognition. It is exciting times at Tyler Consolidated and Principal Morris encourages all community members to tune into the school social media, website, and radio to stay up to date to the many great happenings taking place at Tyler Consolidated.
