Stops added, modified to Go COMO Gold, Red bus routes

Columbia’s public transit system is planning an increase to its service.

Starting Aug. 1, there will be 10 new stops provided on the city’s gold bus route, which currents starts at the Wabash Bus Station and travels west along the Worley Street corridor, the city said Monday in a news release.

The new route will continue on this corridor, but also now will turn north toward Parkade Plaza before reaching the Columbia Mall and then returning directly to the Wabash station. The route will have two additional stops on Garth Avenue, four on Business Loop 70 West and four on West Sexton Road. The route only includes westbound stops on the business loop.

The new stops are: 

  • North Garth Avenue at Oak Towers Apartments
  • North Garth Avenue at Austin Avenue
  • Business Loop 70 West at North Garth Avenue
  • Business Loop 70 West at Rusk Rehabilitation Hospital
  • Business Loop 70 West at Parkade Boulevard
  • Business Loop 70 West at Parkade Plaza
  • West Sexton Road at Business Loop 70 West
  • West Sexton Road at Mikel Street
  • West Sexton Road at Jefferson Street
  • West Sexton Road at Oak Street

These stops will provide access to the general areas of: 

  • Oak Towers Apartments;
  • Pepsi Beverages Company;
  • Mizzou North;
  • Rusk Rehabilitation Hospital;
  • The Salvation Army Thrift Store;
  • Moberly Area Community College of Columbia;
  • The Family Support and Children Division;
  • Aldi;
  • The new Central Pantry site, expected to open in 2023;
  • U-Haul; and
  • Restaurants such as Long John Silvers, Imo’s Pizza and Just Jeff’s
