Bechtel and EIMISA partner to deliver mining and infrastructure projects in Chile

Bechtel, a global leader in engineering, procurement, construction, and project management, today announced an agreement with Echeverría Izquierdo Montajes Industriales SA (EIMISA), a leading Chilean construction and industrial services company, to support the delivery of select large-scale mining and infrastructure projects in Chile and across South America.

As mining investment accelerates across the region, customers are placing greater emphasis on how complex projects are delivered – seeking efficient execution while maintaining high standards for safety and quality. Under the agreement, Bechtel and EIMISA will work together on projects where their capabilities are most complementary, combining Bechtel’s expertise in engineering, procurement, and project delivery with EIMISA’s proven track record in direct-hire construction across Chile.

“Delivering complex projects at scale requires more than capability – it requires the right model,” said Lucy Martin, President of Bechtel’s Mining & Metals business. “This partnership reflects a deliberate approach to execution, combining our end‑to‑end delivery capability with EIMISA’s strong construction presence in Chile to strengthen how we deliver across the region.”

“This agreement builds on a strong history of trust between our companies,” said Darío Barros Izquierdo, CEO of EIMISA. “Bechtel’s global expertise and technical resources, combined with our local knowledge and execution capability, create a powerful team to support Chile’s growing portfolio of complex projects.”

EIMISA describes itself as a strategic partner in industrial construction and assembly in Latin America, with operations in Chile and Peru. “Distinguished by the quality of our personnel and our disciplined execution, we align our capabilities with our clients’ objectives to deliver reliable and consistent results. Since 1998, EIMISA has completed over 400 projects with a workforce of more than 8,000 employees, supporting key mining and industrial developments and contributing to regional growth.”

Major mining projects for EIMISA in recent years include structural, mechanical and piping (SMP2) for the wet area plus the EPC contract for the truck shop at Capstone Copper’s Mantoverde between 2021-2024; construction of the primary crusher, overland conveyor belts, stockpile, reclaim tunnels and pebble plant at Teck’s Quebrada Blanca Phase 2 2019-2023; covered stockpile and loadout area at Antofagasta Minerals Centinela mine development project 2024-2026; and the construction and assembly of the concentrator plant and the overhaul of the Rajo Inca thickeners at Codelco El Salvador 2021-2024.

Using leading technologies and processes, Bechtel delivers world-class assets, including copper and gold concentrators, industrial water supply systems, iron ore and bauxite bulk materials handling facilities, refineries, aluminium smelters, and phosphate plants. The company adds: “But just as importantly, we deliver these assets with a focus on serving local stakeholders, prioritising conservation, and reducing water usage. By increasing mining productivity and improving mining practices, we’re putting the mining industry – and the world – on the path to net zero.”
