AIF Institute Announces Private Wealth Advisory Board

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The AIF Institute, the educational arm of AIF Global (https://aifglobal.org), announced today the formation of its Private Wealth Advisory Board, a strategic initiative to guide the development of AIF’s fifth Center of Excellence, the Center for Private Wealth Investing (“Private Wealth Center”), and shape its programming, research, and industry dialogue at the intersection of private markets and private wealth.

The newly created Advisory Board brings together senior investment leaders from leading wealth management platforms who are at the forefront of integrating private markets into client portfolios. The five founding members are:

  • Daniel Amiri, Investment Director – Alternatives, Northwestern Mutual

  • Scott Lavelle, Head of Manager Research and Investment Product Design, PNC Asset Management Group

  • Robert Picard, Head of Alternative Investments, Hightower Advisors

  • Mark Robillard, Vice President, Alternative Investments Research, Fidelity Investments®1

  • Fei Tsum, Head of Investment Architecture, BNY Wealth

The Board builds upon AIF’s broader Advisory Boards ecosystem, which has been central to AIF’s ability to deliver investor-driven content and convene trusted forums. AIF’s Advisory Board, which consists of five sub-Boards, has been chaired by Harvard Business School Professor of Investment Banking Josh Lerner since its inception and includes over 150 leading institutional investors, academics, and consultants.

AIF’s Private Wealth Advisory Board extends AIF’s long-established governance model to the rapidly evolving private wealth landscape. As allocations to private markets continue to grow, wealth platforms are navigating increasingly complex questions about liquidity, portfolio construction, governance, and product design.

“The formation of the Private Wealth Advisory Board reflects both the momentum we are seeing in private wealth and the need for a more structured, investor-led dialogue on private markets,” said Andrew Messer, Executive Director of the AIF Institute. “This is about convening experienced practitioners to help define best practices and ensure AIF’s Private Wealth Center remains focused on the most relevant issues facing investors today.”

Established in 2026, AIF’s Private Wealth Center provides a dedicated platform for education, collaboration, and peer-to-peer exchange. The Center aims to bridge the experience of institutional investors, who have spent decades building private markets programs, with the distinct needs and constraints of private wealth platforms, focusing on portfolio construction, liquidity management, governance frameworks, and product innovation.

“The private wealth channel is undergoing a meaningful transformation, as access to private markets expands,” added Brant Maller, Founder and CEO of AIF Global and the AIF Institute. “Through this Advisory Board, we are bringing together leaders who are actively shaping that evolution to share insights, address challenges, and help guide the development of AIF’s Private Wealth Center.”

AIF will continue to expand the Private Wealth Advisory Board in the coming months and convene members through a series of in-person forums and ongoing dialogues as part of the broader Private Wealth Center initiative.
