Asia hedge funds deliver triple-digit returns on AI-driven equity rally


Several Asia focused hedge funds have posted exceptional returns this year as the region’s AI-driven stock market rally continues to gather pace, Reuters reported.

Hong Kong-based WT Asset Management led the gains, with its China Focus long-short strategy returning 103% through May, while its long-only strategy gained 67.5%. The performance was driven by investments in AI-related hardware, semiconductors and Chinese technology companies.

Other strong performers included E20 Capital, which returned 136% in the first five months of the year, and technology-focused Trivest Advisors, which gained 88.9%.

The rally has been supported by soaring Asian equity markets, with South Korea, Taiwan and Japan among the strongest performers globally. Investors continue to favour AI infrastructure, semiconductor supply chains and software developers, viewing the sector as a key long-term growth theme despite ongoing geopolitical uncertainty.

Fund managers say Asia still offers attractive opportunities across the AI value chain, particularly in segments that remain underappreciated by global investors.
