Egypt claims French Para doubles gold

PARIS — Egypt’s para badminton player Yasmina Eissa won the gold medal in the women’s doubles competition at the French Para Badminton International, held in the city of Mulhouse.

Eissa secured the title alongside her American partner Jessie Simon in the SH6 classification after defeating the Taiwanese duo of Kai Li Lin and Ho Yu Yen in the final by two games to one.

The match scores were 20-22, 21-15 and 21-14.

The Egyptian-American pair began their campaign by topping Group Two after defeating a New Zealand-neutral team 2-0, with game scores of 21-9 and 21-10.

They followed that victory with another straight-games win over a Turkish-Azerbaijani pair, prevailing 21-10 and 21-8 to advance through the competition unbeaten.

Officials of the Egyptian Badminton Federation, headed by Hadia Hosny, are aiming to prepare Eissa in the best possible way as part of efforts to qualify her for the next Summer Paralympics, scheduled to be held in Los Angeles in the summer of 2028.
